The artist is known for both realistic work as well as abstractions. She at times combines the two approaches to painting into one composition. The abstract paintings are often begun with a definite idea but the painting can take on a life of it’s on in response to the painting process and the results of paint application, etc. She often pours paint, or applies it with tools such as rollers, spatulas and various unconventional tools. Thus the painting becomes a combination of planning and chance.
Inspiration and subject material come from her surroundings. Farm animals, fields, pastures, mountains, lakes are abundant and a good reason to paint. Whether executed in a realistic style or a more interpretive way, these are always fascinating and wonderful subjects to study.
