During this 2 day workshop with Anne Hope, you will learn how to create your own composition using sketches, canvas preparation and underpainting with oils. Anne will show you the basics of COMPOSITION, BRUSH and COLOR with tried and true techniques.
No experience is needed to attend this class!
Anne will provide you with all the supplies needed – canvas, paint and brushes. You will also practice the effects of brushes, how to care for them year after year, how to master the color wheel. You will be able to practice composing your very own original piece!

Fee includes Saturday coffee, juice and muffins in morning, and 30 minute break. Please feel free to bring your own lunch for this short break. Sunday includes light snacks and refreshments. Feel free to bring notepad – plus instructor’s notes will be provided for your note-taking. Please wear old clothes or paint smock the second day as oil painting can be messy.
Class cost is $150. Fee paid to Bowen reserves your spot and is non-refundable 48 hours prior to date/time.
Class space is limited to 6 students. Once class size limit is reached, registration will be closed. At that point, we will notify you if you wish to be on wait list in case of any cancelation. You must register and pay for the class in advance to reserve your place.
The Bowen is located in the heART of Downtown Dawsonville on GA Highway 9. This historic building is still known as “The Old Rock School” circa 1941. The 5,000 sq.ft. stone building is perfect light and space to present exciting exhibitions and education for the cultural arts and social gatherings. Join us in supporting local art and artisans and also continuing this sustainable attribute to the North Georgia community for years to come.
