Personalize your experience by bringing your own subject, from beloved pets to intricate natural elements, to life on canvas. A comprehensive materials list will be provided. Please pack a lunch, and hard copy photos are recommended for sketching assistance.
MATERIAL LIST FOR DRY BRUSH WATERCOLOR CLASS:
• Strathmore “Cold Press” 140 lbs watercolor paper tablet: 15” x 22” or 18” x 24”. • Brushes: bring what you have on hand but avoid nylon and horse hair. “Simply Simmons” sable brushes, pearl handle, of various sizes are recommended. They are the best quality for the price. One basic watercolor set, basic colors, tubes only. Student grade paints are acceptable. Please, no paints in traditional plastic trays. “Michael’s” store has the entirety of the above. Hobby Lobby has substitutes but the quality isn’t always equal. Students should expect to pay no more than $75.00 for the above. • Bring, if you can, several hard-copied reference photos of subject matter you might want to paint. Examples are family pets, local wildlife, or lesser elements such as trees or flowers (near shot, close up). Birds and Blooms magazines will be available for those undecided. Instructor will provide all other supporting materials. NOTE: Instructor will also have extra paints and brushes on hand so not to worry if the student is short.
