The Dawson Community Chorale

The Dawson Community Chorale, formed in 1997, is a mixed choir of about 30 members, all of whom love to sing. That is the sole requirement for admission: a love of singing and a willingness to come to rehearsals and perform with the group. Rehearsals are on Monday nights at 7:00 – 9:00 at the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville, 900 Hwy 9 North, Dawsonville, GA.

The current music director, Dr. Joe Chapman, has been director since 1999. Under Dr. Chapman’s direction, the Chorale has had the opportunity to sing with the University of North Georgia Orchestra several times, and the group has greatly expanded its repertoire. Dr. Chapman’s position at the University has been a real advantage for the Chorale because of his access to instrumentalists and music, as well as to some fine singers who have bolstered the Chorale’s ranks.

The Chorale typically gives two concerts a year, one in the fall and one in the spring. The fall concert is often a more serious work/works of music, sometimes with orchestra, while the spring concert tends to feature lighter music.

Anyone who is interested in singing with us should call Leslie Kupkowski at 706-216-6261 for more information. We look forward to welcoming you to the Chorale!!
